Nine new Dunkin’ Donuts coming to region

The first restaurant in Sarasota and Charlotte counties is scheduled to open in 2012, with the remaining four by 2016.

Velocity Brands plans to open its first next years, with the remaining sites by 2015.

Southwest Florida lost a slew of former Dunkin’ Donut shops in the fallout from the Great Recession.

Dunkin’ Donuts also announced that franchisee Herb Serpa plans to open three restaurants in south Pinellas County by 2014, with the first next year.

“The Sunshine State is a priority growth market for Dunkin’ Donuts in 2011, and we’re excited to expand our footprint in Tampa,” said Grant Benson, vice president of franchising and market planning for Dunkin’ Brands Inc. “Our secret to success is our passionate franchisees.”
