CREDIT card and finance operator MBNA has warned that up to 80 jobs could disappear at its Chester offices.
The US-owned group said it has begun consultations with staff about a review affecting the operation which employs around 4,000 at its UK headquarters within the city.
A spokesman said: “We announced to staff recently that we may see a reduction of around 80 full time equivalent positions largely in two areas of our business in Chester, credit and customer assistance, and we are currently consulting with the associates in these areas.
“We are no different to any other major employer in that we regularly review our business structures to make sure they are right for our customers and our business priorities, and we’ll continue to do that.”
He added: “We remain committed to Chester and North West; we are one of the region’s largest employers with around 4,000 associates based at our UK headquarters in the city and we are continuing to recruit talent in many other areas of our business.”
